The
Heartland Insurance Agency is a product
of a long line of independent agencies in the Vermilion and Champaign
Counties. Its roots can be traced to the 1880s and includes name
such as Platt, Greene, Payne, Moreland, Behimer, Goodwine, Headlee,
Atchison, Collins, Andrews, Myers Alexander, and Ludwig.
In 1991, The Ludwig Insurance Agency merged with
the Greene, Lowenstein, and Wren Agency to form the Heartland
Insurance Agency. John Alexander brought his agency, the Alexander
Insurance Agency on board in 1992. Since then the Spencer-Carlson
Insurance Agency and Jack Pipes and Associates from Danville and
the Lewis Insurance Agency from Sidney have joined the organization.
On January 1, 2001 our sister agency in Champaign, Ludwig-Stevens
Insurance, 407 Devenshire, Champaign, IL merged their operation
to make up the present Heartland Insurance
Agency.
Our President, Gary Ludwig, began in the insurance
business in 1968 in Oakwood Illinois. John Alexander, our vice-president
began in Potomac, Illinois in 1979. Both these gentlemen are active
in the community. Gary is past president of Downtown Danville,
Inc. and current president of the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce.
John is past president of the Illinois Independent and Professional
Insurance Association and currently serves on the board of the
Professional Insurance Association of America.
Heartland Insurance provides outstanding property

and commercial needs. A full service investment banker offering
stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, through Investment Planners Inc.
